I call this group the Dan-ites because it was started by a young enthusiastic but rather assumptive young man who believes he knows more than his elders, more than all or let us say, 99.9% of the intelligent Christians who have ever lived, those who have studied all of the issues much longer and now even his Bible College teachers. Dan as a person has an irresistable charm but unfortunately he uses this charm to beguile and persuade those who are easily swayed.
One person that I just talked to this week said "I went there for a while until I realized it was all wrong... what he was teaching. IN fact one person that went doesn't even go to church anymore because he is so confused."
"Let's put it this way, he said, he prays upon the weak who do not know their Bibles." These are not my words but his.
When Dan was a brother in Christ I thought very highly of him. As a person I still pray for him and his wife. However the fruits I see and comments made about others and to me by one individual who used to be an avid follower of Dan. I pray for him often But here are some of his latest "revelations".
Okay so what is so wrong about Dan's teaching?
First he has chosen to believe a very small sect of what some may call Messianic Jews but I call Judaic Christians. The oldest and most reliable of the Messianic Jews WERE JEWS who came to believe in their Messiah. These groups go back to the "Jesus movement" of the late 60's and 70's. I will post a list of some of the real genuine messianics who are Christians first but like the flavor of Hebrew music, dance and worship. Nothing wrong with that. All Christian groups have their own flavours just as all burger joints have their tastes whether it be Big Macs, Whoppers, or Wendy's Juicy Fresh Hamburgers :-) Christians have their Baptist-types, their Charismatic or Pentecostal types, their legalist types, and the Amish-types and so on. Even types that call themselves a Christian denomination but whose leader believes you don't even have to be a believer in God to be a member.
Jehoshua, Yeshua, Joshua or Jesus is empowering believers to believe more not less. The daily TV shows run by Christians who are not perfect any more than any of us are, are run by people of faith like David Mains and now his sons, Pat Robertson and those of CBN. They have helped many people in North America to understand true Christianity. They have saved the lives of many who said they were going to commit suicide because they were so depressed. They have helped alcoholics, prostitutes, druggies and criminals to see truth and leave their downward-spiralling lifestyles.
I attended a group originally led by Dan in our church. At first I just enjoyed the Hebrew flavours as mentioned above. But suddenly my spirit told me "Hey wait, there is something wrong here."
What was wrong was the legalism that Dan was leading this group into. I must say that some others had already left the group before I came as they had the same reaction as they had attended from the beginning. They knew also that the teaching was not about Jewish roots of the Christian faith but more like "now that you are a Christian you can go back and fulfill the torah better than a Jew could because you have the Holy Spirit to help you."
Paul writes endlessly as a Hebrew of the Hebrews, a Jew of Jews, why this was wrong. However Dan has swallowed little catch words to make his teachings seem all right.
For example when you quote something from one of Paul's epistles, instead of disagreeing with the Bible outright, he simply says, "I don't know about Paul." You see there is a whole group influenced to believe that Paul was way off base so you cannot quote Paul because he was wrong. In my personal life right now I cannot think of one thing that Paul taught that does not encourage me to love my Lord any less, but instead love him more!

What stimulated this page was Dan's latest deviation from orthodox Christianity.
He stated that the Bible does NOT teach the trinity. He also stated that Jehoshua, Jesus was not the son of God but a son of God and a great teacher.
He also now casts doubt on the gospel of John where it shows with almost 1/2 of your brain tied behind your back that Jesus was with God, equal with God, as was the Holy Spirit.
I will move to another page to explain why the trinity is a belief of the orthodox Christian church.
"orthodox" simply means, the main beliefs of all Christians as outlined in the various creeds such as the Nicene Creed.
*Catholic means universal not Roman Catholic.
**Apostolic means handed down from the apostles of Jesus..

Here is the basic Nicene Creed which has had a few I think minor changes by various groups as outlined on this page.

He suffered and was buried, and the third day he rose again according to the Scriptures, and ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of the Father. And he shall come again with glory to judge both the quick and the dead, whose kingdom shall have no end.
And we believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord and Giver of Life, who proceedeth from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son together is worshipped and glorified, who spoke by the prophets. And we believe one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the remission of sins. And we look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen."
